Use dedicated gateway program to collect data from PLCs, transform and broadcast to cloud. Also receive cloud data, transform and send to PLC
Challenge
Client used Siemens PLC which had limited MQTT capabilities. With heavy data load, we needed an external gateway, and a program in high level languages, unfamiliar to PLC engineers. Required mix of PLC, IT and domain specific engineering.
Solution
We used dedicated gateway, created custom data protocol specific to this domain's processing requirements, wrote custom software from scratch with node-red training PLC engineers on that, and successfully installed needed high frequency data handling features.
